GEOmon Data Access

One of the main objectives of the GEOmon project is to facilitate access to high quality data, data products and metadata relating to atmospheric composition produced both within the GEOmon project and from other related data centres in a format that is open and easy to use for scientific research purposes. This is achieved through the GEOmon Distributed Data Base and the GEOmon Rapid Delivery database.

Please accept the GEOmon Data Policy below to access the data.

GEOmon Data Policy

GEOmon data is freely available for non-commercial use.

Use of this data implies an agreement to reciprocate. Institutes making similar measurements are strongly encouraged to make their own data available to the scientific community in a complete and easily accessible form. Modelers are encouraged to make available to the community, upon request, their tools used in the interpretation of GEOmon data.

Types of data provided

- Type I data are funded and produced within the context of the GEOmon project. Every dataset created within GEOmon is owned by the GEOmon partner(s) who created this dataset.

- Type II data are archived and owned by other organisations or data providers and are hosted at other data bases. Type II data are provided with the permission of each organisation or data provider contributing to the data archive. Each dataset of type II may have its own data policy that will supersede the GEOmon data policy.

- Rapid delivery (RD) data may be either original to GEOmon or not available through any other online database. To date there is no common agreed format.

Conditions of Use

Users should:

- Contact the organisation or data provider(s) responsible for the particular measurement to verify proper interpretation of the data in the context of the intended use.

- Grant data provider(s) the opportunity to review the use of the data and conclusions drawn from it.

- Invite the data provider(s) at an early stage to be co-author on any papers written if their data is essential to the work or an important result or conclusion has been obtained using their data,

- Acknowledge GEOmon using the following citation: We acknowledge the support of the European Commission through the GEOmon (Global Earth Observation and Monitoring) Integrated Project under the 6th Framework Program (contract number FP6-2005-Global-4-036677).
