Project Office

- Is composed of Philippe Ciais, Mary Minnock, Stefanie Kirschke, Philippe Keckhut, Morag
Logan, and occasional support staff as required
- Is responsible for the routine administration of the project
- Is chaired by the deputy coordinator
- Provides a secretariat to the Contractors' Committee, Executive Committee
or Advisory Board as required
- Liaises with partners on the financial administration of the project and
the provision of necessary documentation to the Commission
- Manages the preparation of the annual General Assembly
- Is supported by the Groupe Administrative of LSCE in their day to day functions
Activity Leaders:

Michael Schulz (LSCE), Kjetil Torseth (NILU) and Sophie Godin-Beekmann (SA_CNRS)
- Are responsible for managing the RTD of their activities, and for reporting
- Are members of the Executive Committee.
Work-Package Leaders
- Are responsible for managing the RTD of their Work- Packages and for reporting.
Task Leaders
- Are responsible for managing the RTD of their Tasks within their Work-Packages,
and for reporting.
Contractors' Committee:
- One institutional representative per contractor (one vote/member), Coordinator,
Head of the Project Office, Other externals: advisors
- Maintain an overview of the GEOmon project and its progress
- Consider major issues requiring the views/votes of all partners, such as
changes in financial arrangements, major changes in the scientific plans,
reallocation of work, default action etc.
- Meet once per annum, or as required, or on request of one fifth of partners
- Have a quorum of one-third of members, and a 50% majority including proxies
- Chaired by Martine De Mazière (BIRA) (elected at Kickoff meeting)
Executive Committee:
- Is responsible for the routine management and progression of the project
- Consists of the Coordinator, the Deputy coordinator, the project managers,
the activity leaders and their deputies, Peter Rayner (consultant) and Jörg
Klausen (chair of the GEOmon Data Management Committee).
- Meets annually before the General Assembly and conduct monthly teleconferences
for routine business and sharing of progress etc information
- Prepares six-monthly progress reports
- Contributes to the annual report, based on material provided by scientific
officers and work package leaders
- Is co-chaired by the Coordinator, the deputy coordinator, and the scientific
project manager

Martin Heimann (MPI-BGC): carbon cycle; Paolo Laj, (LAMP/Université Blaise Pascal/CNRS): aerosols EUSAAR; Jean-Louis Fellous (CNRS): satellites, international activities; Tim Haigh (EEA): international activities
- Advices on the overall science plans and directions
- Comments on the progress in achieving the plans
- Identification of emerging needs
- Information on relevant new developments
- Interaction with important interested bodies
- Will meet with the Executive Committee during the annual
General Assembly and provide a brief written report.
Remote Sensing Products Working Group
- Assures the link with programmes for
remote sensing of atmospheric composition.
- Consist of one member from each activity
- Report every six months on the progress and plans for satellite missions
relevant to GEOMon. Liaise with such missions on the use of GEOMon facilities
for validation
Data Management Committee (click here)
Chair: Jörg Klausen
- Advise on and decide on data management issues in the various GEOmon activities.
- Document user requirements for GEOmon data services.
- Decide on metadata format and data format standards for all GEOmon data.
- Define data access and archiving policy in order to guide the implementation (contents, mode of operation, services).
- Describe the technical possibilities and limitations of the various existing European data centres and individual data providers in terms of how a link to GEOmon can be established.
- Consists of one member from each activity and the Satellite Remote Sensing Group, a representative of the GEMS project, and other experts
- Reports to the Executive Commmittee
