WP3.2: Development of European Network of Aerosol Observation Networks (ENAN)

The objective of this work is to establish a reliable and harmonized European Network of Aerosol Observation Networks (ENAN) including ground-based in situ measurements and ground-based remote sensing measurements, complementary to satellite data. The intention is to integrate and further develop the European aerosol networks into a harmonized network of networks, and thereby improves the data comparability, assess representativity across networks, and extend monitoring capabilities using innovative measurements and methods.

ENAN plans

ENAN has now been established in the framework of GEOmon during a first work shop in April 2009 in Emmetten, Switzerland. The Emmetten workshop has been organized by NILU and PSI, in cooperation with the EUSAAR project. The most important European and international aerosol networks have been represented. A white paper will be written describing European and international aerosol networks, gaps, collaboration needs, and the situation in other continents. For more questions on ENAN, please contact Markus Fiebig <mfatnilu.no> or Cathrine Lund-Myhre <clmatnilu.no>.
